10 Month Update

Ten months old! Jake’s in the double-digits now! :) He’s growing up way too fast. Two months from now will be his first birthday, too – I can hardly wrap my head around it! My little man!!

I will be planning a special 1st birthday celebration for Jake. But because his birthday falls within the month we are meant to be moving out of this house and into our new one, we may end up having the party at my mum’s instead. :)

Additionally, we’re hoping for a double-celebration, as Jake’s cousin Owen will be turning 1 that same week! Anyway, stay tuned for more details as they unfold via our Facebook Event. :)

JAKE: MONTH 10 (Jan. 17th – Feb. 17th)

Size: 23 lbs, shoe size 12-18m

Milestones:
Sitting up perfectly on his own in the bath tub now!
Is able to move into a sitting position from stomach
Gets up onto his knees like a little meerkat. ;)
Objects loudly if you try to take his toy away
Pick up tiny objects with thumb and finger
Understand the word “no” (but not always obey it, hah)
Little speed-crawler
Feeds himself little bits (more of a ‘sampling’ stage at the moment)

Routine: Jake’s naps have been thrown out of whack since the holidays where we let him stay up late and wake up late.. He still has his morning nap around 11am, but lost his afternoon nap usually around 4pm. But he’s going to bed earlier now, around 6:30pm, just like Logan’s starting to. (I have a feeling we are all adjusting for Daylight Savings Time extra early this year! haha) Jake continues to wake every 2 hours to nurse, and still prefers being exclusively breastfed. I’ve noticed that he is definitely getting more curious about tasting, however, not so much on chewing/swallowing.

LOGAN: MONTH 10 (Mar. 28th – Apr. 28th, 2010)

Size: 24 pounds, and almost 29″ tall.

Milestones:
- work to get a toy out of reach
- look for a dropped object
- stay sitting up on his own
- stand holding on to someone or something
- stand alone momentarily
- pick up tiny object with any part of thumb and forefinger
- clap hands and wave both arms
- drink from a sippy cup
- understands “Where’s Pepper?”
- recognizes the sound of OUR car
- achieved: awesome golden tan :P

Routine: Well thank goodness, Logan is sleeping soooo much better through the night these days! Hooray! He is usually asleep by 7PM after his bath & nursing. Then he’ll wake up once at 1AM to nurse again. Then usually he doesn’t wake up again until after 7AM. Last night was particularly wonderful: 7PM-4AM-8AM. YAY! His naps have also changed to one big one around noon that lasts for 1.5-3 hours, depending on how active we’ve been the previous day.

Logan is really getting into his meals, too! In fact, it’s time to upgrade the size of his bowls! Logan has warm cereal mixed with whole milk and sugar-free applesauce for breakfast. Sometimes if I have any banana puree I’ll mix that in too! Lunch is usually yoghurt. And dinner is a blend of veggies and protein. Snacks are now arrowroot cookies! He has also enjoyed sugar-free apple juice from a sippy cup, along with drinks mixed with orange juice and lychee juice!
